Mulch

Mulches conserve moisture, moderate soil temperatures, and suppress the growth of weeds. Organic mulches also improve soil structure and fertility.

The depth of the layer depends on the plant being mulched; small low growing plants require only a very thin layer, whereas trees and shrubs need 3 inches or more of the appropriate mulch. Summer mulches should be applied after the soil warms in the spring. Apply winter mulches after the ground has frozen.  Never apply an excessive amount of mulch on a wet or dry area.

There is a wide range of organic and inorganic mulches such as cedar, cypress, pine bark, buckwheat, rice hulls, pine needles and hardwood among others.  Organic mulches should be composted for at least a few months before using them. Rotted farmyard manure is also organic mulch.

Mulch should not be applied too close to the crown of a plant, since this will encourage rot and encourage unwanted pests.

Mulch can also be an attractive feature of the garden drawing everything together.

We carry a wide assortment of different mulches.  We have pine bark mulch, mini-nuggets and other types of mulch.  All the different types of mulches that we carry come in bags for your convenience.

Fertilizers

Organic fertilizers, nursery special, osmocote and Miracle Gro are only a few of the fertilizers you'll find here.  We'll help you find the best kind for your garden.
